I play Warmachine and Phinneaus Shae is a Worcester I use. This novel will be loved by those that like pirate stories or the Warmachine universe. I think if I knew nothing about Warmachine it would be a good tale.Spoiler alert: The novella is about the Tallion' s crew stopping by an island to get medical herbs when they are ambushed by the Mercarian League pirate hunters. In a narrow escape from the island and a trap from two ships the Tallion goes to a ship graveyard where they make repairs and then face off against the two pirate Hunter ships. A sniper mercenary nearly kills Shae in the process. On the down side, I thought the trap was a bit unbelievable and the Ghostmaker character was interesting but very two dimensional. On the up side the action scenes were interesting and well done. The characters from the gam
e all have parts and as a fan of the game that was very cool read. Chris Jackson must have sailed because the story has the feel of someone who knows the sea. The look out descriptions were spot on. He did such a good job I'd like to see what else he has written. I gave it five stars because the pacing and action were first rate. As a fan of the game I think this story stands out from other stories I've read in the Warmachine universe.

I'm a huge fan of the Warmachine/Hordes world. My issue is quite simply, $5 for approximately 100 pages? I know it's not really the author or 's fault, but that much for 100 pages of digital bits just doesn't seem right.
Maybe over time things will change.
Good in universe writing. Would love a follow up story or fleshed out novel.

Fast paced action story that's a fun read from start to finish.
A great series and a great addition to the game world. A great read for even casual fans of the game.
Big fan of the Iron kingdoms novels. Fantastic book could not put it down. Suggest you read the lead in story in the no quarter collection volume one. It will make your reading of this novel a more enjoyable read. Having a little knowledge of Warmachine and the Iron Kingdom will help also.
